About IslaTravelers.com
This was my first website. It has gone through many changes since I first put it on line in August 2005.
Originally, it had a message board that was based on phpBB2 and was set up for people who travel to or live on Isla Mujeres, MX. The site and the board went through a lot of changes over the years. By the time that I finally accepted the fact that I am not cut out for adminstering an online forum, it was running on phpBB3, with many modifcations, a blog system, and three different style templates. Frustrated by the petty nonsense that an internet forum administrator has to deal with, and bored with the site in general, I took the whole thing down in March 2010, and then completely rebuilt it over the next two months.
Now, the site consists only of a weather information page into which 14 different RSS feeds supply updated information about storms and weather developments affecting the Atlantic, Caribbean, and Eastern Pacific. When a tropical wave becomes classified as a cyclonic formation, the red banner at the top of the page automatically comes on with links to the pertinent information from the US National Hurricane Center.
